Modi : The Joy of Being Amongst Children

The Joy of Being Amongst Children Teachers sow the initial seeds of wisdom and understanding deep in our mind in our most formative years. Our teachers are the ones who engage with our curiosity, and quench our thirst for knowledge as children- which is one of the greatest challenges of being a teacher. If left unquenched, this thirst and curiosity can in fact dangerously de-motivate and dampen our enthusiasm about knowing and learning as we grow up.

This initial inquisitiveness is thus, the first step in a person's journey of knowledge – and something which we fundamentally depend on our teachers to nurture and encourage. The importance of a teacher therefore, can never be over-stated!

On teacher's day every year, we felicitate some of Gujarat's finest teachers. To enhance the love and pride for the teachers in the minds of the students and to motivate other teachers, since last three years we have started to broadcast this function in schools, throughout the State via our BISAG SATCOM facility, the event is also webcasted live. About 50 lakh people get connected. This programme also has an interesting component of my interaction with kids coming from different parts of Gujarat and present online. I find nothing more refreshing and satisfying than engaging with these bright young minds that are brimming with curiosity and enthusiasm. Looking at them, I derive a great sense of contentment seeing the success of our many efforts an initiatives in the field of education.
